A heroic Starbucks customer took down an armed robber wearing a Transformers
mask by hitting over the head with a chair after he threatened coffee shop staff.
Both Cregg Jerri, 58, and the suspect Ryan Florez, 30, were stabbed in the
ensuing fight, which was caught by the shop's CCTV cameras.
In the clip, Florez is seen approaching the counter of the shop in Fresno,
California, at just before 5pm on Thursday, July 20, armed with a knife and an imitation hand gun.
He brandishes both weapons at a staff member behind the counter, while
holding out a yellow bag and demanding cash.
From behind, Mr Jerri approaches the suspect and smacks him over the head with
a chair, causing Florez's Transformers mask to fall on the floor and reveal his identity.
The pair then wrestle across the shop floor, Florez still in possession of
the knife, before they fight by a table.
Mr Jerri was stabbed in the neck before he then managed to get hold of the
knife and stab Florez in the face and torso.
Police Chief Jerry Dyer said Florez managed to escape the shop and drove a
truck towards a nearby canal, where he abandoned it and continued to flee on foot, according to Fresno Bee.
