I have always found inspiration in the calm beauty of Scotland and again it proved the place where I found inspiration."[2]

written by Max C. Freedman and James E. Myers (the latter being under the pseudonym "Jimmy De Knight") in 1952.
The best-known and most successful rendition was recorded by Bill Haley & His Comets in 1954 for American Decca.
It was not the first rock and roll record, nor was it the first successful record of the genre.
The recording is widely considered to be the song that, more than any other, brought rock and roll into mainstream culture around the world.
Although it was first recorded by Italian-American band Sonny Dae and His Knights on March 20, 1954,[9] Myers claimed the song had been written specifically for Haley but, for various reasons, Haley was unable to record it himself until April 12, 1954.

Many rock historians see 1967 as when this transition began and much of that is tied to the release of “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” by the Beatles. 1966 was the last year where single records outsold LPs. With the release of Sgt. Pepper, the concept of the album was now brought to the fore. It changed how the public perceived the music and more importantly how radio would address it.
Prior to 1967, Almost anything on Top 40 radio that wasn’t the Singing Nun was considered Rock and Roll. Motown, James Brown, Surf Music, Doo Wop, the Teen Idols were all considered Rock and Rollers. If teens liked it and danced to it, it was Rock and Roll. The sub categories we know today, R&B, Soul, Heavy Metal, Prog Rock, Alt, Punk, etc did not exist. Everything flew under one banner and played on one radio station.
It all happened in 1963. In 1961 surf rock had derived from rock'n'roll and by the end of 1962 the old rockabilly songs of the 50s about Peggy Sue and Skinny Jim were were sounding corny and had already gone out of fashion. They were no longer making the charts. Latin music and R&B was still as popular as ever. People had stopped jiving and were dancing the twist, but more importantly; there was a folk revival going on. There was a noticable change in 1963 and especially in 1964. Groups as they were known in those days, began playing electrified versions of blues and folk songs. Different genres of rock music emerged at this time, such as folk rock, blues-rock, and hard rock. There was a rock'n'roll revival in 1967 and a lot of the old stuff was re-released but this soon gave way to a new craze; psychedelic rock which developed into progressive rock. Other genres of rock music followed in the 70s such as glam rock, heavy metal, punk rock, new wave etc.

The late 1940's witnessed the origins of the rock music. The amalgamation of electric guitars and steady beats of drum created this new style. This bought the unique styles of country and blues.
The 1950's featured the legendary Chuck Berry who pioneered the style of classic blue structures that was more of a 'Rock n Roll'. His style was highly entertaining and laid-back that is still popular even today. This music gave rise to sexual freedom as compared to the rest of the genres of that era.
Further transition took place in the 1960's when the musicians progressed and worked on complete rock albums. This gave the rebellious freedom to the music heightening the elements of sex and youth. Rolling Stones was one of the prominent names of the 1960's that also gave rise to several controversies but played an eminent part in the development of rock tunes.
1970's was the golden era for the rock music. The most popular bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and others made the genre more dominant, popular and diverse. Led Zeppelin bought great revolution to the genre by inducing heavy metal beats and tone that led to the advent of 'Hard Rock'. もっと続いてるけどね 0157名無しさん@恐縮です2021/06/28(月) 01:37:17.87ID:RzeBIxuK0 By the mid-1960s this sophistication allowed the music greater freedom than ever before, and it fragmented into numerous styles that became known simply as rock.
